WELCOME TO MANCHESTER DOG WHISPERER, EXPERT DOG TRAINING!

Qualified Canine Psychologist and Dog Trainer

Hello, I’m Martin Shea, a certified canine psychologist and dog trainer. My primary focus is private training, specializing in personalized home visits that offer one-on-one guidance. I am dedicated to establishing a successful relationship between you and your dog, providing ongoing advice, and crafting a customized lifestyle plan you can both rely on.
Discovering the root cause of a dog’s behavior problem through close collaboration with the client is the key. Anything else is merely a temporary fix. Beware of so-called instant solutions—dog training is an art that requires understanding and addressing the underlying issues.
Each dog training session is uniquely tailored to your dog’s personality and your lifestyle. No two dogs are alike, and I believe in adapting techniques to suit individual temperaments.
I will not only demonstrate effective training techniques but also explain the underlying theories. The more training and discipline your dog receives, the more control you gain, allowing for greater freedom and a happier life for both you and your furry companion.
Dogs are opportunistic creatures, drawn to activities that bring pleasure, taste good, or are simply fun. Undesirable behavior is a natural aspect of being a dog, and my approach acknowledges this without labeling dogs as “bad.” I understand that what may be normal for a dog can be perceived as undesirable by owners.
While our focus is on promoting good behavior, it’s crucial not to overlook undesirable behaviors. All dogs exhibit actions we may find disagreeable, and addressing these issues requires training—the cornerstone of fostering positive behavior.

THE INTELLIGENT APPROACH TO DOG TRAINING

Learning, defined as “a change in behavior due to experience,” is the essence of effective dog training. As educators of our canine companions, we strive to make these experiences as pleasant as possible. I advocate for training methods rooted in ‘Positive Reinforcement,’ steering clear of punitive approaches.
